Highgate Newtown Community Centre is delighted that our successful partnership with Ceramic Circle means that we can continue to offer FREE clay workshop sessions for the Over 60s on the first Wednesday morning of every month. These are extremely popular so do contact Inge to put your name on the list. Ceramic Circle was launched at the HNCC in March 2014 and offers the community a unique creative space accessible to all age groups from very young children to the elderly and disabled. The studio is open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday – 10am – 5:30pm to either drop in and paint on ceramics or make something out of clay as well as hosting birthday parties at weekends and after- school clubs during the week and offering a service to pick children up from the nearby Brookfield School. Alongside the general drop in sessions Inge and her team run a number of projects for young children, teenagers, pensioners, disability groups and youth offenders teaching traditional clay hand building techniques and ceramic painting. Inge originally trained in sculpture for prosthetics and special effects in theatre, film and television, going on to work for many years at the Royal Opera House and English National Opera amongst other places. Prior to opening Ceramic Circle Inge helped to set up and run the Zebra Ceramics in Muswell Hill helping it to become one of the most successful studios in London. Do check the calendar and look under Arts, Crafts, Hobbies, Over 60s and Children’s Activities for more information and session times.
