HNCP helps to Make Camden

We are delighted to contribute to We Make Camden’s plans for 2030

The team from Highgate Newtown Community Partners, who will be managing the new building opening later this year, participated in a recent planning event along with Baz, a Trustee from Waitrose who is on secondment with us to help with overall planning. Both Eiran, the HNCP manager, and Sayed our Deputy Manager were present. We were joined at the event by the deputy leader of Camden Council; Georgina Gould.

I am very proud that we have secured Home Office funding for our new deputy manager who has moved into the new flats. Sayed is a former Afghan refugee who will work with our new community of 160 people to ensure there is a positive and inclusive environment for all.

How Under-Fives Services Help Children

  • Many young children have had little opportunity to interact with others of their age due to lockdowns. Healthy development is directly linked to children socialising and playing with others.
  • Under-fives’ speech and language delay is a cause for concern. Drop-ins can provide effective stimulation for communication and language development.
  • Drop-ins offer a gateway to other specialist services.
  • Many families have no parents currently in work. Children under five are disproportionately affected by low incomes.

Sponsor a child with weekly support

Every child deserves a chance in life. Early years are an absolutely critical time for child development.

By donating £20 a month, you can support one child’s free place at our under-fives sessions. This is invaluable for children who don’t otherwise have access to free play sessions, and will transform their future prospects.

Remember your loved one and make a difference for a child under five

A donation in honour of a loved one ensures their memory lives on, at the same time as providing services for children.

We want to make our community better – where everyone has a chance to succeed, and nobody gets left behind

Our lunch clubs already offer great value at £2.50 for a 3 course meal.
We buy our food direct from Waitrose, as we want you to feel valued and special in the services we provide.

At Highgate Newtown Community Partners we also understand how hard it has become for our visitors with higher utility bills and food costs; that is why we feel the need to work harder to support our local community. Due to the support from our public donations, we are delighted to announce that from 1st October 2022 to 1st April 2023 we are cutting the price of our lunch to £1.50 in the hope it gives our local community a little extra help.

Today we can also announce our “Stay & Play Under Five’s Sessions” that will allow access to a free meal for the children who attend.
This is also about keeping that bit warmer in our buildings, connecting with other people and making friends.

We feel this is a super offer to the local community.

Laundry

With the new building opening in spring 2024, we’re opening a laundry for people on low incomes. Our charges will be £3.00 a wash and £1.00 a 15-minute dry – less than half the price of other local laundries.

What we do
We supply eco-friendly washing products (Ecover and Simply Eco-Smart) to our customers, and we can refill Ecover laundry liquid, fabric softener and washing-up liquid containers.

Our large washing machines use less water and are faster and more energy-efficient than domestic machines. And because our water is softened (non-chemically) which reduces wear on the machinery, our machines work more efficiently and last longer.

On top of that, our mains supply is metered, and we have limiters fitted which reduce water wastage.

By supplying eco-friendly products, we reduce the amount of harmful pollutants that are put into the drains every day.

Free Place Scheme

Everyone should be welcome at our all-ages services, and our free place scheme helps make it easier for lower income families to attend – specifically, for Education Plus, Clay Time, Cookery School, sports and 55 Plus.

A panel including representatives from local schools and social services will review applications for free spaces in our programmes each month, giving priority to families struggling to make ends meet and those living in rented housing.

We can only offer free places if people who can afford to pay for services pay into this pot. This means those that can buy another place for a person will be asked to do so.

If you would like to apply for a free place, please fill in this form.

Opening Spring 2024

Unisex Hairdressers and Nail Bar

Every person should have access to affordable haircuts. It’s about building good mental health and not being excluded from everyday life.

Drop in, sit down, have a coffee, and be with people in a friendly, relaxed environment. The goal is that you come away feeling refreshed and valued.

Our new salon will open with the new building in Spring 2023. Keep an eye on our What’s On page for more details.
