Community Lunch Club

We want to make our community better – where everyone has a chance to succeed, and nobody gets left behind

Our lunch clubs already offer great value at £2.50 for a 3 course meal.
We buy our food direct from Waitrose, as we want you to feel valued and special in the services we provide.

At Highgate Newtown Community Partners we also understand how hard it has become for our visitors with higher utility bills and food costs; that is why we feel the need to work harder to support our local community. Due to the support from our public donations, we are delighted to announce that from 1st October 2022 to 1st April 2023 we are cutting the price of our lunch to £1.50 in the hope it gives our local community a little extra help.

Today we can also announce our “Stay & Play Under Five’s Sessions” that will allow access to a free meal for the children who attend.
This is also about keeping that bit warmer in our buildings, connecting with other people and making friends.

We feel this is a super offer to the local community.

Fantastic Sea Side Trip for the Under Five Stay and Play

Nadine and Kim HNCP team did a brilliant job taking a coach for a day trip.
Each child also had an allowance of £5.00 from HNCP for ice cream or food.

These trips are very important many people never have a chance to leave London and cannot afford any holiday.

We are super committed to supporting our community.

Proudly working together for the local community.

Channing was founded in 1885 as a school where the daughters of Unitarian ministers could obtain a ‘first-class education.’ It is this Unitarian foundation that drives us to reach beyond the school gates to build a local network of partnerships, which will help to create a positive social and educational impact on the local community and our school.

HNCP’s vision ‘to make our community better – where everyone has a chance to succeed and nobody gets left behind’, chimes perfectly with the Channing ethos where we work to ‘encourage girls to develop respect, tolerance and understanding of all faiths as well as individual and social responsibility’. By building a strong partnership between HNCP and Channing we can achieve so much more together than apart.

We are investing in people – young and old – and investing in their future just as we invest in the future of Channing students.

Visit our websites to find out more about the difference we are making together.

Channing & HNCP

Channing was co-founded in 1885 as a school where the daughters of Unitarian ministers could obtain a ‘first-class education.’ It is this Unitarian foundation that drives us to reach beyond the school gates to build a local network of partnerships, which will help to create a positive social and educational impact on the local community and our school.

Our growing partnership with HNCP and Brookfield Nursery and Primary School has enabled us to work together to deliver a whole range of activities:

  • chatting with elderly guests at the HNCP lunches at the United Reform Church;
  • making videos for Under 5 activities for HNCP during lockdown;
  • problemsolving sessions organised and taught by our Year 12 students for Year 5/6 pupils at Brookfield;
  • a Science Club bringing enrichment to pupils who may not otherwise be able to afford such activities; and so much more.

Last July we ran a Summer Camp to provide pupils in the area with an opportunity to attend a camp which was both educational and fun. Plans are already underway for this Summer!

Come and visit us at our stall at the Fair in the Square on Saturday 11 June to find out more about the difference we are making together.

Faiths

Highgate Newtown Community Partners have benefitted enormously from working with local churches including St Anne’s, St Mary’s, the United Reformed Church in Pond Square and St Michael’s, as well as local schools such as Brookfield Primary School and Channing School.

These partnerships have built on our joint capacity and capabilities to the benefit of our local community, with educational outreach and activities for under-fives and older people. Our aspiration is to reflect our local demographic by engaging with other faith partners and schools as we continue to develop our offering.

After School English, Maths and Science Clubs

Our after school clubs support struggling children and teenagers by offering further education to improve their life chances. Many local families cannot afford these opportunities, and without support for these classes, this education cannot take place.

We’re delighted to announce John Lyons Charity has agreed to unlock £90,000 in new funding over three years to support our team. Their support helps protect much-needed services for local residents.

Also, through the London Community Foundation, Peabody Housing has promised £30,000 in support of a new Under-Five Stay and Play in Harringay and Islington.
