Opening on May the 25th we are delighted to announce a new partnership with St Michael’s Church, Highgate.
The Wellness Café is for everyone on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 9:30am and 4pm.
Drop in for activities, refreshments, lunch (between 12 and 2) see friends and meet new people.

We are delighted to welcome Tomi Ayodeji as our latest Trustee.
Tomi is experienced in the non-profit sector and has worked with the NHS and in Higher Education. She also works with individuals making career transitions. Many will know her from St Michael’s Church, Highgate where her husband is the Vicar.

The Highgate Newtown Community Centre is delighted to announce that Keir Starmer has accepted a role as Patron. Sir Keir made the following statement:
“It’s a great pleasure to take on the role of Patron at Highgate Newtown Community Centre. Since becoming MP for Holborn and St Pancras in 2015, I have been so impressed by the way in which the team here supports, motivates, and brings together its community. No challenge is too great, and it’s exciting to be a part of this spirit.”

“On behalf of the board of Highgate Newtown Community Centre I am delighted to welcome Sir Kier Starmer as a patron as we continue to serve our local community through this difficult time. While we have focussed recently on providing crisis support we are looking to the future. We have planned new partnerships with Brookfield Primary School and Channing School to work with us on a number of initiatives for young people and our older residents. A major focus is planning the necessary fundraising for fit out of the anticipated building by Camden of a new centre for us in Bertram Street. “
We are changing our name!
We have grown beyond our original home at the community centre in Bertram Street. We have so many active partnerships with other groups, such as local churches and schools that our name no longer describes what we do.
Our new building, when it opens late in 2022 will be at the centre of our activities and services and will be far more than a community centre, but our various partnerships will continue. They have been so popular and successful that we feel that our name should reflect the full range of what do

It is with great sadness that we must announce the sudden passing of Angus Anderson on the 28th December. Angus will be known to many involved with the Highgate Newtown Community Centre as our Artist in Residence. Angus was a public services consultant who became a highly accomplished artist later in life. He was generous with his time and support of all he came in contact with, contributing hugely to the creative life of the HNCC through a range of classes and activities. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are especially with his wife and family at this time.
To everyone who has contributed to our crisis response. We are really pleased to be able to bring you our report on what we have been doing during the last six months and how your kindness and generosity has allowed us to impact our community.
Our services are still running, Foodbank, shopping and prescription pick up, Under 5s and Meals on Wheels. Should you or someone you know need to use us, please get in contact. We know that many people are heading into the winter very unsure of their jobs and their future. We are here to help.
To be there every time, we need your help. Please donate what you can to help us help our community.

This notice is to advise that Annual General Meeting of HNCC which was convened for 6th October 2020 was adjourned due to the failure to achieve the required quorum of twenty members
As required by our constitution the Trustees have set a date and time for the adjourned meeting to recommence
That date is 3rd November 2020 at 11 am, as before at St Anne’s Church, 106 West Hill, London N6 6AP.
This meeting will definitely proceed as it is certain that a quorum will be achieved. Our constitution provides that whatever number of members are present will form a quorum
As before we will arrange for a zoom broadcast of the meeting since, by law, physical attendance must be severely limited. Please advise the Secretary at hncc@sloth.uk.net by Sunday 1st November if you wish to have the login detail for the broadcast

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 6th October. Our Chairman, Robert Aitken, Our Treasurer, Stephen Hodge and our Director Andrew Sanalitro will each say a few words
Unfortunately, because of Covid restrictions, it will not be possible for most people to attend the meeting in person.
However we will arrange internet coverage of the meeting which anyone is welcome to join, via zoom

It will not be possible to ask questions via the zoom coverage, but if you have a question you are welcome to send it by email to hncc@sloth.uk.net, and it will be answered at the meeting

M & M Demolition are working on the Bertram Street following approval of the Demolition Management Plan.
A newsletter about the work is being hand delivered to local residents.
A copy of the newsletter, the final Demolition Management Plan and the approval can be found on the consultation webpage.
The first batch of honey has been collected from the St Anne’s Church beehives by our appropriately suited beekeepers. Our bees had been hard at work and the honey combs glistened in the sunshine as they were collected prior to the honey being prepared for sale.
The honey will be on sale soon with the proceeds going to both the HNCC and St Anne’s
Many of our talented supporters have donated the fruits of their creative labours to our first ‘Creative Volunteers Auction’.
A big thank you to everyone who donated, and to all those who bid in our auction. We raised in excess of £1,200 for the food project which is providing vital supplies to those most in need in our community. We were blown away by the high quality of the art and other services and talents on offer. We look forward to doing it all again in the future.
The auction started online and closed with a live radio show hosted by Dan Carrier on Boogaloo Radio. Apologies to anyone who was trying to listen in as technical problems meant that the live broadcast was turned off before it was complete.
To celebrate the efforts of all involved we enjoyed the opportunity to have a party with our volunteers in the green space by the food bank. This was to say thank you for all the hard work, time and dedication over the last three or so months which in these unprecedented times have been such a challenge for everyone. Of course, proper social distancing was in place and the hand sanitizer flowing! It was lovely to see all the volunteers who came and provided such lovely pieces of art, crafts and cakes in the auction.
The food project provides food parcels, hot meals and help with picking up shopping and prescriptions for those who need it. We are currently working hard to get our new meals on wheels service up and running for September. Keep an eye out for more news about this.
We are also looking at further ways to support the community and help to save money with new services. Watch this space for more…
